Increased job quality is fundamental to the wellbeing of employees and business health; from reducing stress and burnout, to increasing retention and creativity. At Pacific Community Ventures, we believe Good Jobs mean Good Business, and we are ready to help you get there.

The Good Jobs Community of Practice is a 15 month-long program to help small to medium-sized businesses improve job quality. Business owners who attend all 3 program sessions will receive a $1650 stipend for their participation, along with an additional stipend for completing the program surveys. Employees who complete the surveys will also receive a survey stipend.

As part of the program, business owners will also receive support from Good Jobs experts through facilitated sessions and office hours focused on helping them identify improvements, create action plans, and implement changes in their businesses. Over the course of the 15 months you will have the opportunity to implement one or more job quality improvements with support from our team. By the end of this program, participants will leave with a network of values-aligned businesses who are striving to create great jobs, plus the information and resources needed to continue to make job quality improvements long term.

If you are a small to medium-sized business with at least 10 employees, and you are committed to improving job quality and building Good Jobs into your bottom line, we invite you to apply to The Good Jobs Community of Practice today! As a member of this program, you will:

  • Learn about the Good Jobs practices that build a better business, then craft and implement a Good Jobs plan with support from your cohort and  Pacific Community Ventures.
  • Build your company’s reputation as a Good Jobs provider to attract and retain top talent.
  • Build a peer network of business leaders facing similar challenges, and gain the community, skills, and resources you’ll need to create Good Jobs well into the future.

Participants and their employees will also be asked to complete 3 surveys over the course of the program. These surveys will help track progress of your chosen job quality improvements and the impacts they have on your business and to your employees. Survey answers contribute to our research into what makes a Good Job, and how to help more businesses start their Good Jobs journey.

There is no cost to participate in the Community of Practice. Business owners who attend all 3 program sessions will receive a $1650 stipend for their participation, along with an additional stipend for completing the program surveys. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I qualify?

The Community of Practice is for business that:

✔ Employ between 10 and 1000 full-time employees, not including owners as of the program start date
✔  Are in any industry
✔  Are located in the US

If you employ fewer than 10 employees, we would love to invite you to participate in our Good Job Advising program. This free program will help you match with a pro-bono advisor who can help you along your good jobs journey.

What is the time commitment?

During this 15-month program, participants will attend 3-hour facilitated virtual sessions with their cohort, one in September 2024, January 2025, and Summer 2025, totaling 3 sessions.

Between sessions, participants are expected to engage with their cohort via our community platform, Qooper, and to complete 3 “voice” surveys that take about 10 minutes each. We also ask that between 10 and 20 of your employees participate in the surveys. All survey respondents will be compensated with a survey stipend.

Early in the program, you will be asked to commit to a specific job quality improvement that you will then work to implement over the course of this program. There are infinite options for improvements to select, so the amount of time dedicated to this implementation will vary widely from business to business.

Additionally, participants are invited to participate in our Good Job Advising program to enhance their experience in this program. This free program will help you match with a pro-bono advisor who can help you along your good jobs journey. While we highly recommend working with a Good Jobs Advisor, this part of the program is completely optional.

Is there a cost to participate?

There is no cost to participate in the Community of Practice. Business owners who attend all 3 program sessions will receive a $1650 stipend for their participation, along with an additional stipend for completing the program surveys.
